PROTECTION OF UNACCOMPANIED REFUGEE MINORS: LAUNCHED THE TOOLKIT OUTCOME OF THE “RE-FUTURE” EUROPEAN PROJECT

The Toolkit collecting the good practices as regards the protection of unaccompanied refugee minors was launched. Outcome of the “Re-Future” European project, realized by a partnership of international organizations to support their integration, the Toolkit is now available in the portal having the same name (www.re-future.eu).
It consists of an introduction to the project and three sections including: 1) General information and guidelines on the legal protection of unaccompanied refugee minors, 2) The good integration practices, 3) The results of the research conducted by the Psychology Faculty of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO.
The first section includes an overview on the national and international laws that are currently in force that are applicable to the protection of unaccompanied foreign minors and an insight on the best practices adopted by some European countries. The second section includes the results of the Conference, held on the 7th June 2018 in the premises of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO whose title was Future - Fostering the Integration of Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. On that occasion the representatives of the governmental and non-governmental institutions and of the international organizations brought their contributions by sharing good practices in managing the question of unaccompanied foreign minors. In this section the video clips of each intervention are available as well as the more-in-depth documents of the activities carried on by the participating NGOs and associations working in this field including AccoglieRete, partnering in this project. Whereas, the third section includes the results of the research work conducted by the Psychology Faculty of the UNINETTUNO University on the general perception of the migration question and on the emotional impact of the films, realized by the young immigrants who took part in the project, on a sample of viewers, citizens of the country of arrival.
The Toolkit represents an important tool to learn about and spread the good practices aimed at NGOs, local associations and other stakeholders involved in managing the migration of vulnerable individuals, such as unaccompanied foreign minors, and their integration in the hosting community.
