ITS NEW YEARS EVE

It's New Years Eve and Meka, like all the inhabitants of Syracuse, is in the main Square, Piazza Duomo, celebrating the new year and looking around what's going on. Music, people, shiny lights and fun, this is the way to spend new year’s eve together.

NO WORKING SINKS

Modu is showing the laundry area in the first reception center where he is living right now. They are in 130 living there and maybe 8 sinks are not enough to wash their clothes regularly. In a first reception center you are supposed to stay not more than one months, but in fact, Modu is living than since more than one year.

PLAYGROUND

Ok, these a children's play area, but sometimes it's nice to have some leisure time with friends, even on the swing, just for fun.

STROLLING ON THE ORTIGIA WATERFRONT

It's Sunday morning and Ahmed is going around with friends, filming funny tourists staff: vintage Apecar, pedicabs, tourist choo choo trains, old style boats, street performers and people strolling. All these things make Siracusa what it is: a lively and sunny city in the heart of Mediterranean.

Ahmed filmed the lunch time in the initial reception centre where he was living at that time. After lunch not many think to do, waiting a transfer in a housing and starting school and trainings.

SAINT LUCIA IS UNDER MY WINDOW

The 13rd of December the whole Siracusa is abuzz, for Saint Lucia, the patron saint of the town. The holy statue is carried in procession in every single street even right under Meka's window. What a surprise! What a party!

Meka, 17 years old, for Mali, is going to the vending machine inside the big Hospital in front of his house to have a "Cappuccino". It seems he really like it!
